Apple today (Wednesday) unveiled its latest iPad, featuring a high-definition “retina” screen that could provide a dynamic boost for mobile video. It will become available beginning March 16. (Orders will be taken beginning today.) Apple chief Tim Cook, displaying the company’s latest tablet device, commented, “Everyone’s been wondering who will come out with a tablet that’s better than the iPad. Stop wondering. We are.” (It turned out that the device’s new display offered greater resolution than the screen behind Cook that duplicated images on the new iPad: 2047 x 1536 pixels, 40 percent greater color saturation than the previous iPad, all available thanks to a more powerful processor, the Apple A5X quad-core chip.) For those using it as a camera, there’s autofocus, HD video recording at 1080p and image stabilization. No change in price.
