AMC CHAIN WILL PERMIT CHILDREN TO SEE BULLY WITH PARENTAL OK

March 28, 2012 by · Leave a Comment

The AMC movie chain on Tuesday said that it will allow children under 17 to see The Weinstein Co.’s Bully documentary if they receive written permission from their parents or if the parents speak to a ticket seller via their children’s cellphone. The theater chain has posted permission slips on its website. (They are also available at the box office.) For underage children to see an R-rated movie ordinarily, a parent must accompany them to the theater and either buy the tickets for them or accompany them inside the theater. Following a decision by the MPAA’s ratings board to give the film an R-rating because of the repeated use of the F-word in the film, Bully is being released unrated this week as an act of protest by The Weinstein Co., which has maintained that it is especially aimed at younger moviegoers.
