Casablanca, which is on just about every film critic’s top-ten-of-all-time list, has received another digital facelift and is being re-released again on March 21, its 70th anniversary. But not just on DVD and Blu-ray Disc — that comes on March 27 — but also in brick-and-mortar theaters. “There are few things more thrilling for movie lovers than being able to experience a true classic like Casablanca the way it was originally intended: on the big screen,” said Dennis Adamovich, senior vice president of brand and digital activation for TCM, TNT and TBS, in a statement. The one-time-only screening will be preceded by a short introduction by Turner Classic Movies host Robert Osborne presenting, in the words of a publicity release, “stories from those who were on set and those who simply admire this timeless classic.” Screenings of the Oscar-winning movie, which stars Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman and Paul Henreid and was directed by Michael Curtiz, have been scheduled for 7:00 p.m. local time, with a matinee in select locations. A list of theaters screening Casablanca has been posted online here.

How about showing other classics too on the big screen all over the country? Not all of us have the luxury of living near the big cities and having access to repertory theatres.
