Robert Redford, along with former Washington Post investigative reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, who broke the Watergate scandal, and Ben Bradlee, their editor at the time, are collaborating on a documentary for the Discovery Channel called All the President’s Men Revisited, the New York Times reported today (Tuesday). The two-hour film will launch Redford’s Sundance Productions, a new company that will make shows for TV and the Internet. In an interview with the Times Redford said that he was confident that “it’s the right time to take a look at this moment in history to inform the present.” In a separate interview, Woodward said that when the four men came together again some 40 years after the release of All the President’s Men, which starred Redford as Woodward and Dustin Hoffman as Bernstein, they said that the documentary should look at the questions: “What’s the legacy of Watergate? What do we understand? What are some of the lessons? It’s been a long time.” The documentary is expected to air on the Discovery Channel in 2013.
