A stage production by Britain’s National Theater of director Danny Boyle’s version of Frankenstein will be screened in more than 200 U.S. theaters on June 6-7 at 7:00 p.m. local time. It is Boyle’s first major effort as a stage director in nearly 30 years. His films include Slumdog Millionaire (for which he won an Oscar and a Golden Globe for best director), 127 Hours, The Beach, Millions, and Trainspotting. Actors Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller, who shared this year’s Olivier Award for best actor for their performances in the Nick Dear adaptation of the Mary Shelley tale, will play Victor Frankenstein and the Creature, reversing roles on the second night of the performance. The two-hour-long production is being beamed to theaters via NCM Media Networks’ Fathom Entertainment.
