IMAX helped push Men in Black 3 into respectable territory at the box office over the weekend. While it sold fewer tickets than the two previous MIB flicks, solid attendance at 278 IMAX theaters added $5.3 million to its domestic gross. Overseas, the per-IMAX-theater performance was even greater as the movie grossed $7.3 million on just 196 IMAX screens. The results represented a Memorial Day record for a film remastered in the IMAX digital format, knocking the previous record holder, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, down a notch.
