MEXICO’S TELEVISA NETWORK DENIES NEWSPAPER’S ALLEGATIONS

Mexican broadcaster Televisa has condemned a series of reports appearing in Britain’s Guardian newspaper disclosing a purported secret group set up within Televisa to commission videos promoting the candidacy of Enrique Peña Nieto and lambasting his rivals. “Grupo Televisa will not be intimidated by the Guardian and it will continue demanding a public apology given the multiple falsehoods contained in its articles,” Televisa statement said. The Guardian noted today (Thursday) that while CNN’s Spanish-language news service has given prominent attention to the revelations, Televisa itself and most other news outlets in Mexico have ignored or barely mentioned it.
