ABC’s telecast of the opening game of the NBA Finals between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Miami Heat on Tuesday attracted 16.2 million viewers, according to final figures from Nielsen Research. That was the biggest rating for a Game 1 ever. Those numbers overwhelmed those for the usual Tuesday-night winner during the summer season, NBC’s America’s Got Talent, which attracted 11.18 million viewers, down from 12.5 million a week earlier. On Wednesday, Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance led the field, but its numbers were nothing to celebrate. It attracted just 6.49 million viewers and barely managed to edge out CBS’s Dogs in the City with 5.59 million viewers.
