Disney’s Pixar kept its 13-film winning streak alive over the weekend by posting an estimated $66.7 million in ticket sales for Brave, topping the high end of expectations. Disney allowed only a modest roll-out overseas, which is preoccupied with the Euro 2012 soccer finals. Nevertheless, Brave opened in 10 markets with $13.5 million, putting it behind only Madagascar 3 ($30.1 million), which is screening in 44 countries, and Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman ($22.6 million), which is screening in 60 markets. Brave‘s victory follows on the heels of Disney’s triumph with The Avengers, from its other acquired studio, Marvel, which has piled up nearly $600 million domestically and more than $1.4 billion worldwide since its release last month. Despite the strong competition from Brave for the family audience, DreamWorks Animation/Paramount’s Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted performed solidly in its third week, taking in $20.2 million to bring its total after three weekends to $157.5 million. But a provocative title failed to lure many moviegoers to theaters showing Fox’s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, which opened at the low end of forecasts with $16.5 million. Another new film, Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, tanked with just $3.8 million.
