Both Ice Age: Continental Drift and The Amazing Spider-Man took in around twice the revenue overseas that they did domestically. Like the previous Ice Age films, overseas ticket sales for the the fourth iteration will no doubt far outpace those in North America. It had already sold $244 million worth of tickets abroad since its June 25 opening. With its latest haul of $95.2 million from 64 markets, it boosted its international total to $339.2 million. In Russia alone it took in $16.4 million. (While some reports indicated that amount represented the biggest opening of the year in Russia, Men in Black and the much-derided John Carter actually did slightly better, coming in at $16.9 million and $16.5 million respectively, according to Box Office Mojo.) The weekend’s runner up, The Amazing Spider-Man, added $66.6 million to its total, bringing its foreign gross to $320.4 million. It also passed the $500-million mark worldwide where it now stands at $521 million.
