OSBOURNE LEAVING AGT — MUCH ADIEU ABOUT NOTHING?

Sharon Osbourne’s tweet to fellow America’s Got Talent judge Howard Stern that she will not be returning to America’s Got Talent apparently caught NBC executives by surprise. NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt told reporters that he hasn’t talked to Osbourne, her agents, or her attorneys but that his immediate impression was that it was all “much ado about nothing.” (At least one reporter thought he said that its was “much adieu about nothing.”) In her tweet to Stern, Osbourne said, “Money is not the reason I’m not returning to @nbcagt. It’s because …” and she did not complete the thought. Osbourne has served as a judge on the hit NBC summer season since 2007. Asked by TheWrap.com whether he wanted Osbourne to return, Greenblatt replied, “Absolutely. We love Sharon. Earlier in the day, NBC late-night programming exec Paul Telegdy said that he would be “delighted” if Howard Stern also wanted to return to the show.
