3 DOESN’T GET PAST TWO

After drawing the lowest ratings for the network for any show in modern ratings history, CBS has yanked its Sunday-night dating/reality show 3 after just two episodes. While the new show faced an overwhelming challenge from the Olympics, the network apparently felt that the core group of viewers at which it was aimed — women 18-34 — might be ripe for some alternative programming. ”It was a show we tried, we were excited about”, CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler remarked at a Television Critics Association news conference on Sunday. “t didn’t quite get traction. I think overall the summer has been a little bit soft for everybody.” The show was based on an Israeli series in which three beautiful women living in the same house date 100 men. Critics mostly ignored it. Several of those who did review it called it a rip-off of ABC’s The Bachelorette — only slower. “It just might be the most tedious dating hour ever and makes The Bachelorette seem like a romantic comedy version of The Fast and the Furious” wrote Mark Perigard in the Boston Herald.
