A TEEN IDOL FOR AMERICAN IDOL?

In their effort to restore American Idol‘s ratings lead among 18-49-year-old viewers, Fox and the producers of the hit talent contest are apparently considering adding a bona fide teen idol to the judging panel. That became apparent on Saturday when 19-year-old Nick Jonas, the youngest member of the Jonas Bros. pop group, confirmed a report in Us Weekly that he is a frontrunner to fill the seat vacated last month by Steven Tyler. “The rumors are true,” Jonas tweeted. “I am being considered to be a judge on American Idol. And it would be a dream come true if it happens.” The rumors had already been given some credence in part by numerous reports suggesting that many viewers had been turned off by Tyler’s age — 64. The producers recently signed 42-year-old Mariah Carey to replace 43-year-old Jennifer Lopez.
