Capitalizing on the Batman mania among moviegoers, Warner Bros. Home Media has successfully reintroduced the first two installments of the trilogy, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, which have moved into the top two spots on the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart for both DVDs and Blu-ray Discs. Home Media magazine observed that for the first film, “the result represents a remarkable return to the top spot for a title that has been on the market for almost seven years.” It did not indicate whether a similar reemergence has ever occurred in the past. The two oldies had risen to the second- and third-place positions on the chart the previous week. The Three Stooges, which topped the list at that time, slipped to third place this week. Making its debut at No. 1 on Home Media‘s rental chart was Fox’s Mirror Mirror, which had been hampered by the studio’s 28-day delay imposed on kiosk and online renters.
