HUNGER GAMES HITS BULLSEYE ON SALES CHART
It wasn’t released until Saturday, five days after the usual Tuesday release for most home-video titles, but by the end of the next day Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games had already sold an estimated 3.8 million DVD and Blu-ray Discs, thereby becoming the week’s top home-video seller, according to sales trackers Nielsen VideoScan First Alert. It was also No. 1 on Home Media magazine’s rental chart. According to Home Media, the movie outsold the previous week’s to seller, Universal’s The Lorax by nearly 4-1, despite the fact that the latter film spent the entire seven days on retail shelves. A set of the sixth season of the Showtime series Dexter debuted in third place, while a restored version of Universal’s Jaws came in fourth. Rounding out the top five was Season three of the Fox TV series Glee.
