Veteran comedian Phyllis Diller, a onetime housewife who made her TV debut as a contestant on Groucho Marx’s quiz show in the early 1950s and went on to make dozens, if not hundreds, of TV and film appearances over more than half a century, has died in Los Angeles at the age of 95. The cause of death was not immediately disclosed, although reports indicated that she had injured herself in a fall recently and was receiving care at home. She was perhaps best known for her frequent appearances on the Tonight show over the years — she appeared on the show as recently as 2007 at the age of 90 — and on Bob Hope’s numerous TV specials.
