Television viewers, for the most part, didn’t like seeing their news channels on Tuesday attempt to split their coverage between the Republican National Convention and Tropical Storm Isaac. They tuned instead to The Weather Channel, which had the highest total-day ratings of any news channel among viewers 25-54 and the second-highest (behind Fox News) among total adults. It beat out CNN, Headline News, and MSNBC by a wide margin. On its website, the channel was putting out 5 million videos streads on Monday, 10.4 million on Tuesday, and 7 million on Wednesday. In a statement, the channel said, “It is clear from yesterday’s ratings that viewers rely on TWC in times of severe weather.”
