FOOTBALL+VOICE+REVOLUTION ADD UP TO #1 FOR NBC
It’s probably a given that between now and the Super Bowl in February football will hold the top spot in the weekly Nielsen ratings. Last weekend’s NBC coverage of the game between Baltimore and New England drew 21.3 million viewers, while the pregame show pulled in 14.7 million to place second. (On cable, ESPN’s telecast of the Denver-Atlanta contest also drew 21.3 million.) That dropped the Primetime Emmy Awards to No. 3 on the Nielsen list with 13.3 million. NBC also placed two editions of The Voice in the top ten as well as the series debut of Revolution. In addition, the network kept its lead among the network evening newscasts, pulling in 7.8 million viewers for NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams. ABC World News with Diane Sawyer remained a tough challenger with 7.3 million, while the CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley advanced with 5.8 million. For the week overall, NBC came out on top with an average 5.3 household rating and a 9 share. CBS was close behind in second place with a 5.1/8. ABC followed with a 3.9/7, followed by Fox with a 3.1/5.
