Hoping to entice moviegoers back into the theater to see his movie, Looper, a second time, director Rian Johnson has recorded the equivalent of a director’s commentary track that often is included in DVD releases that can be downloaded and played on iPods in theaters showing his movie. Johnson posted the commentary on Tumblr with a notice saying, “I recorded a commentary track to be downloaded, put on an iPod and listened to in the theater as you’re watching Looper. It is totally different from the commentary track that will be on the Blu-ray/DVD, a bit more technical and detailed.” A recorded introduction provides instructions on how to sync the audio with the movie and asks that it be played only after first watching Looper without the commentary.
