Taken 2, which performed far better at the domestic office last weekend than anyone had expected — it earned $49.51 million — performed even better overseas. The 20th Century Fox thriller earned $55.2 million in 50 markets — $11.9 million from the U.K. alone. Box Office Mojo observed that in South Korea, where it opened a week earlier than it did elsewhere, the movie has already earned $13.8 million, making it the highest-grossing movie of the year for Fox. Meanwhile Ice Age 4: Continental Drift picked up another $5.5 million overseas to bring its total foreign gross just shy of $700 million, to $699.4 million. Together with its $160-million domestic gross, it now has a worldwide total of $859.4 million.
