RESTORED LAWRENCE TO BE BEAMED TO THEATERS VIA SATELLITE
In advance of its 50th anniversary release on DVD and Blu-ray Disc next week, Fathom Entertainment is distributing the classic Lawrence of Arabia to theaters via satellite on Thursday. It’s a one-day-only event. All screenings are scheduled for 7:00 p.m. local time, although some theaters will also be showing it earlier in the day, Fathom said. The special screening includes an introduction by one of the film’s stars, Omar Sharif, and an interview with director Martin Scorsese about the influence of Lawrence on contemporary filmmakers. In addition, newsreel clips will show scenes from the original red-carpet premiere and a visit to the set of the movie by Jordan’s King Hussein. Like the original presentation in 1962, it will also include a 15-minute intermission.
