TINA FEY AND AMY POEHLER TO CO-HOST GOLDEN GLOBES

Ricky Gervais won’t be back to host the Golden Globes again next year. Really. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association made it official Monday when it announced (originally on Twitter) that it had selected former Saturday Night Live players Tina Fey and Amy Poehler to co-host the affair on January 13. NBC, which will carry the ceremony (and which airs SNL as well as Fey’s current 30 Rock and Poehler’s Parks and Recreation) obviously saw the selection as a major promotional opportunity, given the show’s solid ratings performance in the past. (It averaged 17 million viewers during the past two years with Gervais at the helm.) “Having both Tina Fey and Amy Poehler on board to host this year’s festivities is a major coup,” said Paul Telegdy, president of alternative and late night programming at NBC. “Tina and Amy have a proven chemistry and comedic timing from their many years together on SNL to their successful co-starring roles in [the movie] Baby Mama.”
