CRAIG WANTS OUT OF BOND ROLE

November 7, 2012 by · 2 Comments

Skyfall, the latest James Bond saga, looks set to become the biggest moneymaker of all the Bond flicks, judging by its two-week take overseas, where it has already earned nearly $300 million. But Daniel Craig, who plays Bond, would apparently love to dump the character. “I’ve been trying to get out of this from the very moment I got into it,” he says in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine. “But they won’t let me go, and I’ve agreed to do a couple more.” In the interview, presumably conducted before the overseas opening of Skyfall, Craig goes on to suggest that he was secretly hoping that the movie would fail and that if it did, he’d walk away — contract or not. Skyfall is set to open in the U.S. on Friday. In an early review, the New York Post‘s Kyle Smith calls it an “utterly routine effort.” The best thing about the movie, he suggests, is the animated opening credit sequence with music provided by Adele. “Adele,” he writes, “you are the new Shirley Bassey.” But Christy Lemire of the Associated Press calls it “simultaneously thrilling and meaty.” She and Michael Phillips of the Chicago Tribune regard it as being among the best of the recent Bond films. Writes Phillips: “It’s reasonably grown-up escapism, but with the swank and polish and movie smarts to deliver what Bond has always delivered: death, over and over, by various means and in glamorously diverse locales.”

Something tells me this was taken completely out of context and he said it as tongue-in-cheek. I sincerely doubt he would bite the hands that feed him at this point.

he said on so many occasions even on the skyfall press conference that he would love to do this as long as they want him… so yeah, probably completly out of context
