Steven Tyler, the departed American Idol judge, has just become embroiled in a feud with Nicki Minaj, who is embroiled in a feud with Mariah Carey. In an interview with MTV News, Tyler maintained that the reported tension between Minaj and Carey will not only hurt the show but hurt the aspiring contestants. “It should be just the opposite. They should have something going on which is called camaraderie,” he said. What the show needs now, he said, is some “manager to say, ‘Shut the f*** up, and just give them your opinion.” The judges, he said, should be devoting their time on the air to bringing the best out of the young talent. “If it was Bob Dylan, Nicki Minaj would have had him sent to the cornfield.” Predictably, Minaj reacted angrily, “Steven, you haven’t seen me judge one single solitary contestant yet!” Minaj tweeted. “You assume that I wouldn’t have liked Bob Dylan??? Why? Black? Rapper? What? Go f*** yourself and worry about yourself babe. … That’s a racist comment.
