Three journalists were killed in Gaza today (Wednesday) — only this time Israel admitted that they were targeted, pointing out that they represented members of the Hamas media. Britain’s Guardian newspaper said two were killed while covering events in the Al-Shifaa district of central Gaza when their vehicle was struck by Israeli war planes. They were cameramen working for Al-Aqsa TV. A third journalist, the director of Al-Quds Educational Radio, was also killed while in his car. An Israeli spokesperson called the three “Hamas operatives” Asked by the Associated Press whether Israel now targets journalists working for Hamas media, the spokesperson replied, “The targets are people who have relevance to terror activity.” Later in the day BBC and AFP reporters tweeted that the building that houses their offices was hit and that explosions close by had blown out its windows. An AFP reporter said that a six-year-old had been killed in the air strike on its building. A cease-fire in the current hostilities was announced late in the day.
