Steven Tyler may be having second thoughts about his decision to leave American Idol. The New York Post‘s “Page Six” column today reported that he and the other members of Aerosmith are “barely speaking to each other” after their recent reunion album failed to sell as many copies as expected and tickets for their current tour have failed to sell out. In an interview with Yahoo’s Reality Rocks music blog last September, Tyler acknowledged that he accepted the judging job on Idol in 2010 because band members were angry that he had fallen off a stage in South Dakota and injured himself while apparently on drugs. “It was a great tour and I f***ed it up by falling off the stage. Come on. I know what I did. And they were angry at me, and so I didn’t get back to them, so they decided to look for other lead singers, which pissed me off even more, which made me go to look at Idol because I wasn’t sure what I was gonna do.” A spokesman for Aerosmith told the Post: “Aerosmith is doing great and on tour and on fire. Any claim to the contrary is absolutely false.”
