In an early sign that the Twilight finale, Breaking Dawn — Part 2, will fulfill predictions that it will become the top box-office attraction of 2012, Reuters reported today (Friday) that some 2,200 people have registered to camp at Nokia Plaza in downtown Los Angeles in advance of the Nov. 12 red-carpet premiere. The “fan camp” is reportedly being set up without the usual tumult attendant on previous ones. One Twilight blogger wrote: “This year they [Summit Entertainment] went with a preregistration system that gave people a specific time to show up, confirmation emails, and a check-in table that has more than one person manning it. Also instead of people sleeping in the plaza, they are leaving that free for performance space. Instead, people are bunking in the adjacent streets that have been blocked off.” The film is due to open domestically on Nov. 16, although several European countries will begin screening it two days earlier.
