40 % OF INTERNET USERS CAN CONNECT TO THEIR TV SETS
Some 40 percent of Americans who have a broadband Internet connection have connected their TV sets to the Internet, according to a survey by Forrester Research. In the case of 18-to-32-year-olds, the number surges to 60 percent. By far, the favored medium for the connection is the game console, such as the Xbox 360 and PlayStation3. Those game consoles account for 42 percent of all connections among all users and 63 percent among the younger age group, the survey said. Personal computers account for 27 percent of Internet-to-TV connections, followed closely by Blu-ray Disc players with 21 percent. Newer TV models that can be connected directly to the Internet account for 19 percent while set-top boxes like those manufactured by Roku and Apple account for 14 percent.
