Simon Cowell has reportedly concluded that he miscalculated when he added Britney Spears to the judging panel on The X Factor for a reported $15 million per season. A week after the show’s second season closed with disappointing ratings, Us Weekly has quoted an insider as saying, “Britney will get the boot. … Producers wanted her for the long haul, but it isn’t working.” Another source told the magazine, “They paid all that for her to say ‘amazing’ and offer half-claps.” Yet a third source commented, “He wanted crazy Britney, but he got boring Britney.” After the first season of the show, Cowell dumped Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger. L.A. Reid, who remained, has already said he won’t be returning for a third season. “That turnover,” commented Orlando Sentinel TV columnist Hal Boedeker, “raises the question: Is Spears to blame or is there just something wrong with the overproduced, boring X Factor?”

after all of these years i’ve seen 0 shows of American Idol, The XFactor, America’s Got Talent, but have seen a hand full of The Voice. I may not be the target audience, but the X Factor doesn’t have a “formula” that would attract me in the slightest, it only has a formula. Cowell is the problem, the shows he produces are unimaginative.
