DID MEET THE PRESS BREAK D.C. GUN LAW?
Meet the Press host David Gregory was reportedly being investigated by police after displaying a high-capacity ammunition magazine during Sunday’s edition of the interview show. Such magazines are banned in Washington D.C., where the program originates. During an interview on the program with Wayne LaPierre, chief executive of the National Rifle Association, Gregory held up the magazine and remarked, “Here is a magazine for ammunition that carries 30 bullets. Now, isn’t it possible if we got rid of these, if we replaced them and said: ‘Well, you can only have a magazine that carries five bullets or 10 bullets,’ isn’t it just possible that we could reduce the carnage in a situation like Newtown?” A D.C. police spokesperson said that the department is looking into the possibility that Gregory may have violated the district’s gun laws.
