Ratings for NFL telecasts are down in the single-digit percentages on NBC, Fox, and CBS this season but remain among the highest on broadcast TV, Broadcasting & Cable magazine reported today (Thursday), citing a study by media agency Carat. NBC’s Sunday Night Football has seen a 2-percent drop in its ratings among overall households but 6 percent among the 18-49 age group. (It’s averaging 19.8 million viewers for the season.) Fox’s Sunday afternoon games are down 4 percent overall, while ratings for CBS’s Sunday afternoon football telecasts are down 4 percent. The trade publication observes, however, that four more weeks remain in the season and, depending on the matchups, NBC could well wind up equaling its numbers during 2011, when Sunday Night Football averaged 20.6 million viewers.
