NBC’s annual roll-out of the Christmas classic It’s a Wonderful Life was no match for college football Saturday night. The Jimmy Stewart heartwarmer drew just 4.15 million viewers, down from 4.55 million last year, and was dead last in the ratings among the 18-49 age group. On the other hand, ABC averaged 4.81 million viewers for its coverage of the Texas/Kansas State matchup, while Fox averaged 5.16 million for its coverage of the Nebraska/Wisconsin game. Topping them all was CBS’s 48 Hours with 5.6 million viewers at 10:00 p.m. Meanwhile, NBC’s Sunday Night Football (Eagles/Cowboys) again dominated with an average of 15.1 million viewers, peaking in the 9:00 p.m. hour with 18.2 million. Earlier in the evening, an NFL overrun on CBS captured 21.1 million.
