Apparently taking a cue from the numerous network talent contests, the Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences has split the Grammys into two shows, one to announce the nominees, the other to announce the winners. The first installment aired Wednesday night, and the biggest surprise was the snubbing of Justin Bieber, who received not a single nomination, despite a third hit album, (Believe) and two top-ten singles from that album, (“Boyfriend” and “As Long As You Love Me”). Just last month, Bieber was named artist of the year, favorite pop/rock male artist, and Believe won for favorite pop/rock album. Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun, tweeted a we-wuz-robbed message, saying, “I just plain DISAGREE. The kid deserved it. Grammy board u blew it on this one.” Ratings for the telecast have been delayed.
