Perhaps it was simply a case of viewers becoming inundated with awards shows. Perhaps it was the strong competition. But Fox’s telecast of the American Country Awards saw its audience decline by almost a third from last year, according to overnight Nielsen ratings. The awards telecast attracted just 5.2 million viewers. In the first hour at 8:00 p.m. CBS’s How I Met Your Mother and a Big Bang Theory rerun averaged 9.6 million viewers, while NBC’s The Voice average 12.15 million. At 9:00 p.m. two back-to-back episodes of 2 Broke Girls averaged 11.6 million viewers, while NBC’s new game show, Take It All, was sampled by 7.2 million viewers.
