The cast of Lincoln, Les Miserables, Silver Linings Playbook, Argo, and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel will be competing for the Screen Actors Guild’s top prize. Lincoln and Les Miserables received the most nominations for individual performances. Daniel Day-Lewis, who starred as the 16th president, was nominated in the lead actor category, while Sally Field and Tommy Lee Jones received supporting actor nominations for their performances in the Steven Spielberg biopic. Hugh Jackman, who stars in the musical version of the Victor Hugo drama, received a best actor nomination, while Anne Hathaway was nominated for her supporting role. The SAG Awards are regarded as one of the most accurate predictors of Oscar winners, since actors make up the largest block of Motion Picture Academy voters. On Tuesday, Lincoln earned 13 nominations — a record — and Les Miserables 11 for the Broadcast Film Critics Assn.’s Critics’ Choice Movie Awards.
