SNUBBED AT GRAMMYS, ONE DIRECTION NAMED MTV’S ARTIST OF YEAR

December 14, 2012 by · Leave a Comment

Earlier this week the British boyband One Direction was completely shut out of nominations for next year’s Grammy awards. But on Thursday MTV made up for that snub by selecting them as the network’s 2012 Artist of the Year. The network pointed out that they were “the clear choice” given their two No. 1 CDs, Up All Night and Take Me Home, and such singles hits as “What Makes You Beautiful,” “Gotta Be You,” “One Thing,” and “More Than This,” not to mention a sold-out concert tour. On its website, MTV said, “When our ancestors look back at the year that was 2012, it’ll be pretty clear that it belonged to One Direction.”
