With viewers making a mass exodus from their TV sets on the weekend before Christmas, NBC’s Sunday Night Football slipped to No. 2 on the Nielsen ratings chart for last week, edged out by CBS’s NCIS among total adult viewers. The show’s companion, NCIS: Los Angeles, came in at No. 3. The evening newscasts lined up in typical order: NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams again landed on top with 9.1 million viewers. ABC World News with Diane Sawyer was second with 7.9 million viewers, while the CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley placed third with 7.0 million viewers. For the week overall, CBS and NBC tied for the lead with a 4.9 average household rating and an 8 share. Fox placed third with a 3.3/6, while ABC trailed with a 3.0/5.
