With 15.3 million viewers tuning in, Thursday’s edition of American Idol was down a tad from last week’s 8:00 p.m. (first) hour. Glee, which followed on Fox, drew some of its best numbers of the season, coming in second among the 18-49 age group and third among total viewers (6.9 million). The two shows aired opposite CBS’s mighty Thursday-night lineup. But all of those shows were in rerun mode. Nevertheless, they produced solid ratings. Airing opposite Idol, a repeat of The Big Bang Theory captured 11.5 million viewers and a rerun of Two and a Half Men collected 8.6 million. At 9:00 p.m., a repeat of CBS’s Person of Interest came in first with 10 million viewers, while the second go-round of an Elementary episode dominated the 10:00 p.m. hour with 7.75 million viewers. Meanwhile, preliminary ratings indicate that Jimmy Kimmel scored his biggest victory yet in his new 11:35 p.m. time period with an episode that featured Matt Damon, Andy Garcia, Robin Williams, Sarah Silverman and Ben Affleck. He edged out Jay Leno and David Letterman among total adults and whipped them in the key 18-49 demographic, outscoring Leno by 62 percent and Letterman by 120 percent.
