MOVIE REVIEWS: HANSEL AND GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS

Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters was not generally screened for critics. However, the New York Post‘s Lou Lumenick got a look at it, and his review may cast some light on why Paramount elected not to let critics see it in advance. Calling the movie, “direct-to-video-grade dreck,” Lumenick remarks: “January is a traditional dumping ground for Hollywood studio mistakes, and this one’s a real stinker that’s been mouldering on the shelf.” He goes on: “When a flick’s been whittled down to just 80 minutes before the end credits, it’s a sure sign of a dump job designed to suck up as many dollars as possible before lethal word-of-mouth spreads.”
