The co-chairman of the Commission on Presidential Debates has criticized both candidates and one moderator during a speech in Las Vegas. As reported by Nevada political journalist Jon Ralston on his RalstonReports blog, Frank Fahrenkopf, a former chairman of the Republican National Committee, criticized Mitt Romney for failure to address issues affecting minorities and young people. As for Obama, “it was very clear that he was not focused” and had not prepared. Then, Ralston said, Farenkopf remarked — “shockingly, I thought” — that while he was proud of his role in picking the moderators, “We made one mistake this time: Her name is Candy.” He was referring, of course to CNN’s Candy Crowley, who said before the town hall debate that she would not abide by an agreement between the Obama and Romney campaigns that the moderator would not ask questions.
