Netflix has another original series in the works. Following the release of House of Cards, it is teaming up with the Wachowskis to produce a 10-episode sci-fi series titled Sense8, which, said the sibling directors, seeks to explore “the ways technology simultaneously unites and divides us.” The series will be made available to Netflix’s streaming subscribers late next year, Netflix said in a statement. “Andy and Lana Wachowski and Joe Straczynski are among the most imaginative writers and gifted visual storytellers of our time,” Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos said in the statement. “Their incredible creations are favorites of Netflix members globally and we can’t wait to bring Sense8 to life.” Within the coming months Netflix reportedly plans to release the horror series Hemlock Grove and to revive the comedy series Arrested Development. The Wachowskis have a mixed record at the box office. The Matrix trilogy, which initially brought them fame, was most recently followed by Cloud Atlas, a certified disaster domestically.
