Today’s (Friday) Washington Post observes that it has now been one year since ABC’s Good Morning America overtook NBC’s Today show for the first time in more than 16 years. At the time it did so, its margin of victory was a statistically insignificant 31,000 viewers. A year later that victory margin stands at 660,000 viewers, the Post observes. Unnoticed in the GMA/Today rivalry, however, is the fact that CBS This Morning is up 20 percent in overall audience and up 5 percent in the 18-49 age group. It now attracts slightly more than 3 million viewers, versus 4.8 million for Today and 5.5 million for GMA.
