The week of August 24, 2013 — that’s when Al Jazeera America will launch, it said on Monday, but it has not disclosed the day of the week that it will debut. Broadcasting & Cable reported that the channel’s primetime lineup will include the nightly Real Money with Ali Velshi at 7:00 p.m., a nightly newsmagazine at 9:00 pm., and America Tonight which B&C described as “a deep-dive analysis on key issues of the day.” In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Ehab Al Shihabi, executive director of international operations for Al Jazeera, disclosed that not all cable systems that currently carry Current TV will automatically allow Al Jazeera America to take over the channel’s cable slot. The most significant holdout, he said, is Time Warner Cable, but he insisted that talks with the ISP have been “very encouraging.”
