The National Association of Broadcasters wants the FCC to repeal all of its rules regarding broadcasting so-called indecent content. While the commission indicated that it now intends only to pursue complaints of “egregious” indecent language and depictions, the NAB said that even that limitation, applying only to broadcasters and not to cable or Internet producers, is essentially unfair and places them at a disadvantage. “The rationale for broadcaster-specific limits on ‘indecent’ speech has crumbled under the weight of changes in technology and media consumption,”it said. Meanwhile, Fox television on Wednesday said in an FCC filing, “Fox urges the commission to conclude it is legally required and logically bound to cease attempting broadcast indecency limits once and for all.”
