UNDER THE DOME LIKELY TO DRAW BIG RATINGS TONIGHT

TV columnists are predicting big ratings for the Stephen King/Steven Spielberg collaboration Under the Dome, a 13-week miniseries that kicks off tonight (Monday) on CBS. Neil Genzlinger in the New York Times calls it so “addictive … that it’s hard to imagine any second-episode falloff in viewership.” Linda Stasi in the New York Post urges her readers to “fire up the DVR” so that they’ll be sure to watch all 13 episodes. But Hank Stuever in the Washington Post thinks that aside from all those severed limbs and divided property that occurs when the mysterious dome in the title falls on the small town and seals it off and smash ups when things began crashing into the dome, there’s no Stephen King horror story here “that’s worth sticking around for.”
