VIACOM’S U.S. CHANNELS HIT AMAZON’S U.K. STREAMING SERVICE

Subscribers to Amazon’s U.K. streaming service LoveFilm will be able to watch a host of American TV shows thanks to an expanded deal with Viacom. Last June Amazon acted quickly to grab up content from MTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central and other Viacom channels after Netflix declined to pay the price Viacom was asking to renew its deal. Amazon’s Instant Prime service is already streaming that content in the U.S. Earlier today, its British counterpart LoveFilm announced that “hundreds of hours” from Amazon’s U.S. cable outlets had arrived in the U.K. from Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) and would immediately become available via virtually any settop or mobile digital device. “This partnership will create a fantastic gateway through which fans can view their favorite VIMN shows,” said David Lynn, executive VP and managing director of VIMN UK, said in a statement.
