Jumping the gun on Halloween, ABC presented Pixar’s first television special Wednesday night, Toy Story of TERROR, which won its 8:00 p.m. time period, despite strong competition from CBS’s Survivor and Fox’s coverage of the NLCS game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the St. Louis Cardinals. The Pixar movie drew 10.29 million in its half-hour slot, versus 9.87 million for CBS’s Survivor and 7.21 million for baseball. The special led into an episode of Back in the Game, which plunged to 6.24 million viewers and a third-place 1.8/5 among the 18-49 demo. Modern Family followed, lifting the audience to 10.85 million viewers and making it the highest-ranked show of the night among the key 18-49 age group with a 3.0 rating and a 9 share.
