Yet another film touted as an Oscar contender has been nudged off the 2013 calendar and scheduled for next year. In a statement on Tuesday, George Clooney, who stars in and directs the World War II drama The Monuments Men, told the Los Angeles Times that the film’s visual effects artists needed more time to complete their work and that the Sony film will therefore not be ready in time for its scheduled debut on Dec. 18. “We simply don’t have enough people to work enough hours to finish it,” Clooney said. He acknowledged, however, that by moving the film to early next year, he would be avoiding one of the most crowded holiday movie seasons ever.
