SEAN HAYES SAYS NBC, NOT HIS SHOW, IS TO BE BLAME FOR LOW RATINGS

Can Sean Saves the World be saved? Not according to most TV pundits who agree that the NBC show is currently on the verge of cancellation and almost certainly will not be back for a second season. But series star Sean Hayes maintains that the problems that it faces have nothing to do with the content of the show itself. “To me, [it’s] working,” he told the website TheTVPage.com. The real question, he said, is “How do you get viewers to NBC? NBC programs great shows; it just doesn’t have the eyeballs CBS does.” Hayes insisted that there are no plans to revamp any elements of the show to bring in more viewers. (With an average of about 3.4 million viewers, it has usually been the lowest rated sitcom on the NBC schedule. However, on Thursday it rose to 4.0 million, a tad higher than the 3.7 million who watched The Michael J. Fox Show, which followed.) “I watch it and go, ‘Well, this is really f***ing funny,'” Hayes said. “I wouldn’t change anything right now, I think it’s all working.”
