Despite the fiery comments from all sides during CNN’s daytime coverage of the Congressional hearings on the Affordable Care Act, the news channel’s ratings plunged during primetime Wednesday night. CNN’s audience among the key 25-54 age group fell to just 67,000 — the lowest number since August 10 last year (at a time when most people were watching the Summer Olympics). By contrast Fox News drew 396,000, MSNBC drew 127,000 and HLN 93,000. Among total viewers, Fox News led with 2.3 million, MSNBC placed second with 683,000 and CNN came in third with 285,000. The most-watched news program during primetime Wednesday night was Fox News’s The Kelly File, with Megyn Kelly with 445,000 viewers in the key demo. Lead-in The O’Reilly Factor was a close second with 433,000. Well down the list was CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360, with 66,000.
